Louinel Jean has spent more than two decades working at the intersection of language, education, and humanitarian development — across Haiti, Jamaica, France, and the United States. His path began in practical theology and global missions, the root beneath every classroom, every translation, and every community he has served since.

He has served as Vice President of the Norigene Foundation and Regional Director of Rain Catchers Global, leading post-earthquake recovery programs across solar energy, agriculture, and water filtration in underserved Haitian communities. He is a contract linguist and Haitian Creole standard setter for the U.S. Department of Defense, and a certified educator in three nations: Haiti, Jamaica, and the United States.

Knowledge is not poured into a person — it is constructed at the intersection of the classroom, the church, and the community.
Apostolic Diplomacy

Le diplomate est un être demandeur.

The diplomat is one who asks. HIES calls this posture apostolic in the oldest sense of the word: one who is sent, carrying a message that is not their own, standing in the gap between the one who speaks and the one who must understand.

A Platform, A Translation, A Bridge

Years before HIES existed on paper, this posture was already at work. At a major conference in Haiti, Louinel Jean served alongside a guest speaker — standing beside him on the platform as his translator, carrying his message from English into Haitian Creole in real time for the congregation gathered to hear it.

That moment captures something HIES still holds at its center: language is not a soft skill added onto ministry or development — it is the infrastructure that lets one carry over to another.
